Caring for old photographs workshop held

On Wednesday afternoon and again on Wednesday evening, Jennifer Andries, Lyon County Historical Society Executive Director, held a workshop about caring for, handling and storing old photos.

Andries explained that mankind has been recording history in a variety of ways since the beginning of mankind. But since the late 1800’s, many of those records have been through photographs.  She showed her audience a variety of photos that were on various types of papers.

Old family photographs show physical characteristics, hairstyles, family traditions, and celebrated events. They can help us to see how generations before us lived.

These photos can  even provide clues for genealogy, and help us to learn more about the ancestors who have gone before us.
