Fulda Elementary pre-school and kindergarten classes visited Stonegate Orchard, owned and operated by Jason and Jenni Kirchner), Slayton, last Thursday morning. The children learned about all aspects of owning an orchard including pruning the trees, how the apple buds are pollinated, growth of the apples, picking apples and the 16 different varieties available at the orchard. They visited the shed where the apples are washed and bagged in preparation for selling along with a trip to the cooler where the apples are stored.
