Fulda’s 2018 Fulda Wood Duck Festival honored St. Paul’s Lutheran School’s 125 years of education under the theme Learning for a Lifetime. Loretta Gehl, who has been very actively involved with St. Paul’s Lutheran School first as a teacher, then a principal, and always a volunteer, was the Grand Marshal for this year’s parade.
The newly crowned Miss Fulda, Allison Kenney, and her royal court, Princesses Amber Breuker and Camille Paulzine along with Little Miss Fulda Mara Clarke and Little Miss Princess Grace Sawadogo, reigned over this year’s festival events.
Thursday night included a swim meet at Fulda Pool. A supper served in Fulda City Park was a fundraiser for the volleyball team’s new uniforms. Musical entertainment for the evening was provided by the Fulda Area Big Band.
Friday evening events kicked off with the Community Supper at Fulda City Hall. Entertainment for the evening included the Kiddie Parade, a concert by the Fulda High School Band, the midway by Midwest Rides, and music by Judd Hoos.
Saturday activities began early with the registration for the Fulda Wood Duck 5K Run and Walk and the Kids 1 Mile Fun Run. Also part of the fun of the day were the Irv Larson Memorial Tractor Ride, Kids Fishing Contest, and an Open House and lunch at the Historical Society Building. New this year were a Pickle Ball Tournament and a Lawn Mower Poker Run.
Fulda’s Grand Parade began at 6 p.m. and carnival rides were available until midnight. The Lion’s Street Dance and a fireworks display finished out the night.
Sunday breakfast was served by the Fulda Fire Department. At noon, the Kiddie Tractor Pull began, as did Family Fun in the Park featuring Bob and the Beachcombers. Split the Pot drawings were held every hour from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
