Twenty-nine farmers brought plows, discs, cultivators, and planters to the Peter Ulferts farm on Monday to assist with Spring planting. Lunch was provided by local farm wives and the gas for the tractors was furnished through the Fulda Co-op Oil Company.
Mr. and Mrs. Alden Wildfeuer are the parents of a daughter, Kimberly, born Saturday, May 13. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schuneman and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wildfeuer.
Piano students from St. Gabriel’s School were winners in the National Piano Auditions held in Luverne on Saturday with rating ranging from excellent to superior they include Ted Wand, Susan Amborn, David Malters, Deidre Shea, Bonnie Herkes, Alana Steinman, and Joseph Malters.
In Tuesday’s school board election, 237 votes were cast. Three positions on the board were open. Incumbent J. B. Miranowski received 218 votes, Donald R. Stewart 166, Thomas Webb 177 and Orrin Clark 98 votes.
Miss Kathy P. Brady and Mr. Roger A. Lien were united in marriage on May 6th at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda with the Rev. Fr. Edward Scheuring officiating the double-ring ceremony. The couple plans to make their home in Sioux Falls, SD.
Susan Durnan and Pvt. Kenneth C. Nelson announce their engagement. No definite wedding date has been set.
Mrs. Emma Denny celebrated her 89th birthday with family and friends.
Funeral services were held today for Mr. Dennis Shea.
Clifford C. Barrows passed away Saturday, May 6th, at the age of 75 years old.
Mrs. Mary Louise (Frank) Young passed away at the age of 102 years old on May 9th in Minneapolis. Her son, Frank J. Young passed away on the same day in Rush City where he lived. Interment was in the Resurrection Cemetery at St. Paul for both mother and son.

Senior Day held at the Fulda High School – Please don’t call it a skip day. Skipping means absent without permission and this group had permission! Troy Wehking, one of the organizers took the advise of Mr. Lenards who told him, “If you are going to have a skip day do it right.” The senior class spent the day cleaning and repairing the bleachers, cleaning the school cars, and painting the Indian on the announcers stand at the Fulda football field.
Fulda Area Lake Preservation Club to hold fishing derby on May 31st.
Deputy Grant Pope has an audience of interested students as he fingerprints them at the Fulda Elementary School library.
The Fulda City Council reviewed the 38 applications for the opening on the city crew. Seven will be interviewed next week. John Dirks will be promoted to supervisor and will be increased from $75.00 per month to $1600.00.
Anyone driving along Highway 59 north will notice a large dredging machine at the lagoon. Pudge Sanow, who is certified in water and sewer maintenance, says the dredging of the lagoon is routine maintenance work and needs to be done every 20 years or so. Fulda’s lagoon is 22 years old.
Memorial Day services to be held in Fulda and Dundee.
Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn Nursing Home are Margaret Weinzetl, Priscilla Hakeneis, Mike Raatz and Ann Volk.
The Raider girls track team won the Middle 8 Conference track meet last Thursday at Mt. Lake, nipping Sherburn-Trimont-Ceylon 135-126. It marked the sixth straight year the girls have won the crown.
The 6th grade classes of Mr. Carroll and Mr. Sandberg at the Fulda Elementary School received two new friends for their classroom, Martha and Matilda, laboratory albino rats. Martha and Matilda will help teach the students the relationship between food and health in the diet.
Richard Clark passed away May 6th at the age of 71 years old.
Included in this issue is a supplement honoring the Fulda High School graduates.

The Fulda Public School Kindergarten Red group presented their version of “A Day on the Farm” for family and friends.
