Soaring out to a 45-14 halftime lead, the Big South Conference Luverne Cardinals improved their record to 5-3 with an 82-18 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda in a non-conference varsity girls’ basketball game at Luverne on Friday evening, December 21.
The loss was the ninth straight for the Coyotes, who return to action with a trio of long-distance road trips in the coming week.
HL-O / Fulda travels to Hills on Thursday, January 3 to tangle with the undefeated and league-leading Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots (8-0), who defeated perennial power Southwest Minnesota Christian by a final score of 72-54 on the same night that the Coyotes played at Luverne.
The girls will travel to Madelia on Friday, January 4 and will return to Red Rock Conference action on Tuesday, January 8, for a game at Edgerton against the Flying Dutchmen.
