In a two to five vote held during Monday night’s regular school board meeting, the board approved pairing boys basketball and girls volleyball with Heron Lake-Okabena.
Heron Lake-Okabena School Board will cast their vote regarding pairing of boys basketball and girls volleyball on Tuesday evening.
Many parents and others were present at the school board meeting and shared both positive and negative thoughts about the pairing prior to the motion and vote about the sports pairing. The board was grateful to all who were present and thanked them for their opinions, stating that it showed the concern and caring that these community members have for the students, school, sports and the community.
Non-teaching contracts were approved for Jessica Mitchell as Assistant Speech Coach and for Sierra Stadler as a part-time driver with the school district.
A teaching contract with Rachel Isder was amended to include the additional services of head volleyball coach and assistant track coach.
In the Fulda Community Education and Swimming Pool report to the Board, Jessica Mitchell stated that Holly Rohlik will be holding a Lifeguard Certification Course February 16th through 18th, 2019. The cost for the course if $125 if participants will be working at the Fulda Pool and $150 is working elsewhere.
