Tuesday night, January 22nd, the Fulda-Murray County Central Warriors played host to Flandreau and Quad County. This was the first time the Warrior group wrestled in the new gynmasium in Slayton.
Head Coach Nick Henning commented, “Last night we came close to achieving our season goal of winning a dual this season, a feat that hasn’t been accomplished by this program in a couple of years. “The Warriors tied Flandreau, 36-36, but ended up losing on the 10th tie-breaker criteria and ended up losing to Quad County, 66-15.
Denver Einck made his varsity debut at 106, going 2-0 on the night with a pin and a 5-1 decision. He was able to put his Flandreau opposition on the mat at the 1:46 mark in the competition. Einck also picked up a varsity pin with his win over Brandon Peterson.
Rylan Behnke went 2-0 with 2 pins at 145. Behnke’s first victim was Kolby Peters of Flandreau. Behnke went after him and picked up the pin at 1:02. His second match of the night was a little more challening forcing Behnke to ride it out a full 5:08 minutes before finding the opportunity to put Jaview Jackson (QC) shoulders on the mat for the pin.
Keigan Behnke picked up his first varsity pin of the season against Quad County at 182. Behnke made his way around the mat with Jaden Gorres (QC) and eventually was able to put him in a hold for the pin at 2:43. He also earned points by forfeit in his first match of the night.
