Jaguars win close B-squad girls’ game, 42-37

In a nip-and-tuck, closely-contested game in which both teams pressed full-court most of the time, the host Granada-Huntley-East Chain / Truman / Martin Luther Jaguars edged the visiting Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda Coyotes in B-Squad girls’ action by a mere five points, 42-37.

Paced by a 13-point performance from freshman Emily Madison, the Coyotes earned a six-point halftime lead (22-16), but the Jaguars outscored HLOF by 11 points (26-15) after the break.

“It was an entertaining game with lots of end to end action and fun plays,” summed up Coyotes Coach Jonathon Curry. “Emily contributed a big way for us in the first half, but didn’t play in the second half as she plays in both halves of the varsity game. We had good contributions from several players and nice balance in the second half, but the Jaguars were able to slowly get the lead and hold it.”
