In the C-Squad girls’ basketball game at Granada last Friday evening (February 1), the host Jaguars (of Granada-Huntley East Chain / Truman / Martin Luther) started fast and claimed a 16-6 halftime lead on the Coyotes of Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda.
The Coyotes, who had a total of seven players score in the game, rallied with a strong second half (outscoring the Jaguars by four points, 15-11), but were not quite able to catch up and ended up on the short end of a 27-21 final.
“We had a slow start,” said Coyotes Coach Jonathon Curry. “But we featured a really balanced attack which competed hard to the very end.”
Skylar Fisher (six), Kelli Renneke (four) and Addison Fisher (three) combined for 13 points to lead HLOF in scoring, while four players — Faith White, Brooke Lais, Tara Tuin, and Anna Fest — each scored two points for the Coyotes. Addison Fisher made the team’s only free throw.
