The Murray County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, February 5th. Amongst the items on their agenda was the consideration of a full time license center clerk. Ronda Radke appeared to share the request stating with all the changes nearly every transaction takes approximately 15 minutes. The current staff is having a difficult time keeping ahead of the transactions. The board approved the request. Additionally the board accepting the notice of retirement from Howard Konkol, ditch inspector. Konkol will stay on thru the end of March. They approved the job description and the nod to go ahead with the recruitment process to hire a full time ditch inspector.
The board approved the bill for JD 3. Auditor/treasurer presented the board with a request from MNDOT for JD 14. They are replacing bridges on Highway 91 and JD14 crosses the highway. A required public meeting hearing was set for March 5th at 10:45 a.m. A petition for repair for CD 22 also came in. The county will be holding a final hearing on an improvement for CD 22 at the next county board meeting and it was suggested by ditch attorney, Kurt Deter, to take action on this petition at that point.
The board approved creating a joint board with Cottonwood County for JD 18. Commissioner Jens and Thiner will reside on this board. A meeting via telephone was held to discuss the redetermination of benefits for this ditch system.
Jean Christoffels, zoning, shared information regarding Murray County land use ordinances, including zoning, subdivision, renewable energy, and adult use. The amendments have been in the works since January 2017. She said they are nearing completion. A legal review will be needed. The legal review is not included in the annual attorney retainer. She asked for approval to have Scott Anderson of Rupp, Anderson, Squires & Waldspurger, P.A. conduct the legal review at a cap of $5,000.
