Coyote B-Squad girls finish season with close losses to Adrian and Red Rock Central

In a pair of closely-competitive games on the Fulda court last week, the Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda B-Squad girls’ basketball team completed its inaugural 2018-2019 season.

On Monday night (February 18), the Coyotes hosted Adrian and came up on the short end of a 39-31 final score. HLOF held a three-point lead at halftime (18-15), but Adrian won the second half by a 24-13 spread.

The next night (Tuesday, February 19), Red Rock Central came to Fulda and the Falcons claimed a 23-12 halftime lead on their way to a 40-30 victory over the Coyotes.

The Coyotes actually had an 18-10 lead in the Adrian game, but the Dragons caught up by forcing several turnovers with their pressing defense. In the second half, Adrian made enough clutch free throws to maintain the lead most of the time.

Freshman Faith White made a trio of three-pointers and finished with nine points to lead a balanced Coyote scoring attack. Emily Madison (six), Grace Kilian (four), Skylar Fisher (four), Brittany Lais (two), Claire Reith (two), Taryn Evers (two) and Taylor Haberman (two) also scored for HLOL against the Dragons.

Skylar Fisher scored 10 points on five two-point field goals in the RRC game, while White (six), Evers (four), Kilian (four), Reith (two), Madison (two) and Jaydin Dirks (two) also scored for the Coyotes.

The B-Squad finished with an overall record of 1-19.
