Freshman Faith White, a fine all-around athlete, scored a team-leading 105 points for the Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda Coyote B-Squad girls’ basketball this winter. White played in both halves of all 20 games and connected on seven three-pointers, 28 two-point field goals and made 27-of-54 free throws for her total of 105 points. She played in all 40 of the team
White was fouled often and shot by far the most free throws for the Coyotes. Shooting the best percentage from the free throw line were freshman Chrissy Hermeling (12-of-18) and sophomore Grace Kilian (eight-of-12) who both made 66.7 percent of their attempts.
Freshman Skylar Fisher, who played in 39 of the team’s 40 halves, was second on the season scoring list with 79 points, while Hermeling — who played in just 18 B-Squad halves — was third with 53 points, followed closely by freshman Emily Madison who scored 52 B-Squad points in just 10 halves of action.Both Hermeling and Madison played a lot of varsity minutes, most often being used in both halves.
Freshman Taryn Evers (46), Kilian (44), junior Brittany Lais (38), freshman Claire Reith (34), freshman Addison Fisher (24) and freshman Taylor Haberman (23) also each scored over 20 points for the season. Haberman only played in 20 B-Squad halves, as she — like Madison and Hermeling — frequently saw action in two varsity halves each night.
Skylar Fisher made the most two-point field goals (29), followed closely by White (28). Madison (20), Lais (17), Kilian (15), Evers (13), Addison Fisher (11) and Hermeling (10) also all had converted at least 10 two-point field goals for the Coyotes.
Hermeling and White each drilled seven three-pointers, while Evers (five), Skylar Fisher (three), freshman Corrine Frodermann (two), Haberman (two), Kilian (two) and Reith (one) combined to make 15 three-point shots in B-Squad games.
