City Council approves request for water and sewer outside city limits

The Open Public Forum started with a request for city water and sewer outside city limits. The property, located at the southeast corner of Highways 59 and 62, is owned by Dollar General. The request was made by a builder for the company. The city supplies services to other properties outside the city limits. The cost of extensions of services is born by the property owner and the monthly rate is double that of in city. Mayor Chad Ouellette asked for a motion for the request and Jim Brown made the motion. A second to the motion was long in coming. A discussion broke out on the need for a business that could harm other businesses. Randy Dierks said he would rather have the property annexed into the city first. The second was made by Ann Witzel and the vote was three to one in favor of the motion.

Stacy Grothe had a question on the sewer issues and what has been done. After considerable debate, the city will be jetting and televising the sewer from inside to the main because of the cold weather.

A request for the ability to light up the city park for the month of December by the Festival of Lights was approved.

An ad in the Murray County Visitor’s Guide for the Wood Duck Addition at a cost of $269.00 was approved.

Beer/Liquor/Wine Licenses were approved for Town & Country Golf Club, Graff’s Liquor, Julie’s Place and American Legion Post 318.
