With the pomp and circumstance that providing a new home for twenty-four orphans should be afforded, House of Hope Orphanage of Yambio, South Sudan held an opening ceremony on Sunday, February 10th. The ceremony welcomed 12 boys and 12 girls to their new home and honored the efforts of those who have been instrumental in establishing the House of Hope Orphanage.
Rob Lutz, Fulda, along with his wife, Paula, have been instrumental in getting the orphanage started and Rob was present at the opening ceremonies.
“This has been an ongoing project for three years with Evangelical Lutheran Church of South Sudan leadership, ministers, and the South Sudanese government. They are in desperate need of an orphanage there due to disease, fighting and war,” Rob Lutz stated. “They fight diseases like AIDS, malaria, typhoid and rabies. Then with the fighting, kids get left alone in their culture. In their culture, family does try to take care of their own, but sometimes it just doesn’t happen. That is why there is such a great need for orphanages.”
Construction of the House of Hope Orphanage began three years ago and Lutz helped in laying the foundation of the buildings.
He left the states on Tuesday, February 5th and traveled to Yambio to be present for the opening of the House of Hope Orphanage. “The weather was so wonderful with the temperature about 105 degrees. And it was truly a triple blessing as we held worship. I was honored to preach at the worship service, we started the seminary school year and we opened the orphanage.”
