Donations from the American Legion Post #318 Gambling Committee and Maple Lawn Pink Ladies have allowed for the purchases of a 75 inch Samsung television, a new surround sound system, a Cisco BluRay player, a Denon Stereo System, and a wireless microphone. “We are so very grateful to the Legion Post and the Pink Ladies for helping us to get this new equipment,” Activities Director Annette Kremer stated. “Our old equipment was rather outdated and some of the speakers no longer worked, either. Because of that, our residents had a very hard time hearing when there were special programs brought into Maple Lawn for them. The surround sound makes it so that most can hear. The television is large enough that they say they almost feel as though they are at the movies.”
Several of the residents enjoy being in the living room of Maple Lawn Senior Care Center to listen to the newspaper being read, participate in musical programs, and watch movies. Because of the new equipment, the staff feel that there will be more participation from residents in many of the special events that take place on a weekly basis in the living room.
“Annette had mentioned that the TV and sound system were in great need of being updated, so I told her to ask the Gambling Committee about a donation. Sometimes we have funds available to help with a project and, of course, sometimes we don’t. But Annette asked and we all felt that it was a wonderful project to assist with,” American Legion Post #318 member Randy Kremer stated.
The Maple Lawn Pink Ladies contributed a major portion of the funds needed for the purchase of the equipment. “They are just so great about making sure that needs such as this one are met,” Annette stated.
