Tyler Madison –
The Red Rock Conference has announced that Fulda Raider junior boys’ basketball player Tyler Madison was selected to the All-Conference team for the 1st time in his career as selected by the league’s head coaches.
Madison averaged a team-high 18.3 points per game, 10.7 rebounds per game, and 4.7 assist per game during the conference season. His points per game ranked 5th, his rebounds per game ranked tied for 1st, while his assists per game ranked him 4th. Through 2 years of playing varsity basketball, Madison has accumulated 609 points, 368 rebounds, 163 assists, and 78 steals.
“Tyler put in a lot of time in the summer season working on his game. The countless extra hours he was in the gym working on ball-handling, shooting, etc., paid off for him by being noticed by the conference coaches,” stated Coach Oakland.
Tyler achieved a triple-double this season when the Raiders faced off against the Heron Lake/Okabena Wildcats. He scored 26 points, 20 rebounds, and 11 assists. Madison also nabbed some individual records for the Red Rock Conference during the season. He recorded the most rebounds in a game with 20 against Heron Lake/Okabena, while also tying 4 other players for most assists in a game with 11, which he also recorded against Heron Lake/Okabena.

McKenzie Evers –
Fulda senior McKenzie Evers is selected as Honorable Mention All-Conference for Coyote girls
Senior guard McKenzie Evers put the finishing touches on her fine all-around high school girls’ basketball career as both a Fulda Raider and a Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda Coyote by being selected as an Honorable Mention choice to this year’s All-Red Rock Conference Team, chosen by the opposing coaches of the 10-team league at a meeting in Slayton on March 6.
Evers averaged 9.6 points per game in conference action as she scored 134 points in 14 league contests, putting her 17th in the Red Rock in scoring for the entire season. She also contributed 71 rebounds, 29 steals and 23 assists for the Coyotes in those 14 conference games. Evers ranked 12th in the conference in steals with her average of 2.1 per game.
A steady all-around performer for the girls’ program throughout her years with the team, McKenzie drew lots of praise from Coyote assistant coach Jonathon Curry.
“I have coached McKenzie off and on since she was in 7th grade, so I have been able to see her develop from a young player into an All-Conference guard,” summed up Curry. “She played with an aggressive streak and a scorer’s mentality.”
Curry continued by saying that, “McKenzie is a fearless shooter and a capable ball handler and defender. She had to shoulder a lot of the scoring burden the past two years, but she wore it well. I always really enjoyed coaching her, talking about basketball and how we could get better as a team and her as an individual. I will miss getting to coach her.”
Evers scored in double figures in six non-conference games this past season, including a season-high 20 points against Cedar Mountain in an early-February game at Morgan. She drilled four three-pointers in that game.
A year ago, during the winter of 2017-2018, she scored a team-leading 322 points for the Fulda Raiders as she averaged 11.5 points per contest over an entire 28-game season. She finished her stellar all-around junior campaign with 116 rebounds, 85 assists and 47 steals. McKenzie made 66 three-point shots (in 231 attempts) for a percentage of 28.6 in ’17-18. She was 52-of-82 (63.4 percent) at the free throw line as a junior, playing for FHS.
Having played briefly on the varsity as a freshman (making one free throw) and playing more as a sophomore in ’16-17 (scoring 93 points, along with 34 rebounds, eight assists and five steals), Evers racked up some impressive varsity career statistics as she likely scored close to 700 points and snagged well over 250 rebounds, while passing for more than 130 assists and coming up with at least 100 steals.
