The Bond Election date for the Fulda School District 505 Elementary building improvement is set for April 7th.

John Buschena sells his electric business to his son, Arthur, who will operate under the same name, Buschena Electric Shop.

Mr. Tom Gits, president of the Fulda Civic and Commerce Association, announced today that most of the Fulda Retail Stores will be closed during the hours of noon and 3 p.m. on Good Friday, March 27th.

Emmet Bergman was awarded the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Minnesota on March 19th.

Sixty children have been enrolled for the Spring Primary classes at the Fulda Public School. Classes will be aught by Mrs. Elmer Uhlken and be held in the band room at the Elementary School.

The engagement of Annette Hager and Kenneth Anderson is announced. No definite wedding date has been set.

Darlene Waldron and Norman Clausen were united in marriage on Saturday afternoon at the First Lutheran Church at Dundee with the Rev. Roy Lund officiating.

The Fulda Fire Department has four fire calls during the past week; a brooder house and several hundred small chickens were burned at the Gene Fury farm on Sunday morning; a grass fire at the ball park on Saturday; A chimney fire at the Bernard Murphy home; and a rubbish and grass fire on Monday.

Interstate Power Company to make improvements in the Village of Avoca including new poles, larger wiring and transformers.

Seven persons were killed and 447 were injured in collisions between automobiles and bicycles during 1958 according to the Minnesota Safety Division.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lloyd are the parents of a son born March 21st.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Meyers are the parents of a daughter born March 20th. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schumm are the grandparents.

Mary Hogan continues giving piano lessons to her many students as she recuperates from a broke hip at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

Deb Knorr, Linda Landgren and Beth Kaufman offer Child Care for working families in the Fulda area.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn Nursing Home this week are Violet Engelkes, Edith Montgomery, Dot Ramert and Lillian Nelson.

The engagement of Karen Fuchs and Jeffery Smith is announced. A May 27th wedding is planned.

Frank and Audrey Lynch announce the birth of their son, Matthew on March 23rd. Grandparents are LaVoy and Karne Lund and Viola Lynch and Henry Lynch.

Citizens of Tomorrow feature Brian, Laura and Eric Zins; Michael, Vicki and Brianna Bestge; and Kelli, Kari and Kimberly Sandhurst.

Harold Koehn passed away unexpectedly at the age of 76 years old on March 22nd.

Wallace International Silversmiths, Inc, through Probst Jewelry, have donated a 44-piece stainless steel flatware service for eight and a wooden storage chest to Maple Lawn Nursing Home. A combined value of $275.00.

Girls place 1st and boys place 2nd at the Orange City Indoor Track meets held last Thursday. Shining stars include Julie Kramer who won four events; JoLynn Kunerth took first in the 400 meter run; Chad Carrol who finished 1st in the high jump; and Erin Elder received won the shot put.

The Easter Bunny made stops in several classrooms at the Fulda Elementary School on Monday with candy-filled eggs for the students milk break.

The Fulda School Board has offered a contract to Mr. Scott Monson of New York Mills, MN to serve as High School Principal beginning with the 1999-2000 school year.

Lynn Timmerman is honored as Vet Technician of the Year by the Minnesota Association of Veterinary Technicians.

The Fulda City crew took advantage of the nice weather on Thursday to hang the new street banners featuring our own claim to fame – the Wood Duck.

The first ever Fulda High School Choir Mystery Dinner was a success complete with featherless chew, snowballs, a boat passenger, golden teeth, flubber, frozen cow juice and hyper syrup. Ok – so it was really turkey, potatoes and gravy, corn and Jello. Oh and ice cream with syrup! But if you didn’t know what a dinglehopper or a scooperupper was you might have been eating with your fingers like Sabria Raddle! A flash of class was added to the evening with the performance of several choir ensembles.

Bernice Webb, VFW Auxiliary president, presented a Communications Award to Jerry Johnson of the Fulda Free Press in recognition of their coverage.

Fulda Elementary School holds Talent Show.

Fulda High School Concert Band earned 135 points out of 140 at the Sub-Section Large Group Music Content on Saturday.

Winning the 1st and 2nd grade “Join Dudleys Smile Clubhouse’ poster contest were  Abby Murray and Lacey DeGreef; winners of the 3rd and 4th “Smiles are always in Fashion” poster contest were Sara Kruse and Chelsey Koopman; and the winners of the 5th and 6th grade “To help my smile last a life time, I…” essay contest were Tim Haberman and Phillip Uttech.

Kid Wrestlers competing at the state level in Rochester this past weekend were Tyson Meyeraan, Justin Bixby, Easton Laackmann, Nick Henning, Cody Nolt and Andrew Henning.

Agnes G. Zemler passed away on March 26th at the age of 89 years old.

Emery Brady passed away on March 22nd at the age of 92 years old.

Robert Roy Reese passed away as the result of an auto accident on March 22nd at the age of 60 years old.
