In memory of Elaine Borning

1952-ELAINE BORNING-2019

Surrounded by family on March 18, 2019 an angel was set free to meet her family and friends in heaven.

On October 18, 1952, Darlene and Alvin Hardekopf greeted their new baby girl, Elaine Darlene, at the Worthington Regional Hospital. At the age of one Elaine lost her father and later gained a stepfather Ralph Malenke. On April 30, 1982 Elaine Hardekopf married Jeffrey Borning in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This marriage had nearly 37 wonderful years, ending way too soon.

Elaine grew up on a farm in southwest Minnesota and attended Brewster Public School graduating in 1970. She furthered her education and became a Registered Nurse working in ICU Units in several hospitals. Elaine studied medical sonography and then taught many students at the Eau Claire Technical College.

Her passion over the years was working with Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers with an organization called Leader Dogs for the Blind out of Rochester Hills, Michigan. She raised twenty-one puppies seeing her dogs help many people make their lives more independent. Some of her dogs went to Brazil, Israel, Spain, Egypt and Germany.

Surviving family is her husband Jeffrey; mother Darlene; sisters Linda (Gary) Shelton; Cheryl (Marvin) Mathias; step siblings (Bonnie) Malenke; Roger (Phyllis) Malenke; Patricia Hochstein; Judy (Jerry) Miller; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Alvin Hardekopf; Ralph Malenke; Diane Hardekopf and her grandparents.

A memorial service will be held on April 13th. Visitation 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Dundee, MN.
