Mr. Gordon Cook is one of the fifty Science teachers from twelve north central states to be selected to participate in a year long program at the Academic Year Institute in South Dakota.

First Night Baseball league will open it’s season on May 24th. Pipestone Indians will play their opening game against Fulda at Fulda’s Memorial Ball Park.

A deal was completed here on Tuesday whereby Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Heinrichs became owners of the former liquor store building owned by Dr. and Mrs. J. H. Meyer. After some remodeling, the Heinrichs will move their “Wall and Linoleum Store” to the new building.

Bob Jensen, Bob Schwab, Rex Simmons and Tom Webb were very lucky to escape serious injuries when the Jensen car was overturned on a curve four miles south of New Ulm on Saturday. The car was a complete loss. The men were returning home after attending a Moorman Sales meeting.

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Bartells are the parents of a daughter Ronda born March 27th. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dalin are the grandparents.

Mr. and Mrs. James Eichinger are the parents of a daughter, Brenda born March 22nd. Mr. and Mrs. John Bestge are the grandparents.

Mr. and Mrs. John Zak are the parents of a son, Eugene born March 20th. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Odenbrett are the grandparents and Mr. and Mrs. John Uttech are great-grandparents.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Ehlringer are the parents of a daughter, Cynthia born March 18th.

Mike McNeil and his family have moved to Fulda where Mike will join the staff of the Hustad-Totzke Funeral Home.

Governor Rudy Perpich as proclaimed the week of April 2 to April 8 Tornado Awareness Week.

The Slayton wrestling program was listed as a cut at the meeting of the Slayton School Board on Marach 27th. Superintendent Cornelius Smit has ask the Fulda School to take in their wrestlers. Co-operative sponsorship is the official title of the agreement between the two schools. According to Fulda Superintendent Paul Wandersee, Brad Thompson will be the head coach of nearly 50 kids under the name Fulda-Slayton Wresting.

Pat Uittenbogaard will be installed as Postmaster of Fulda on Friday.

Jerry Johnson is honored for his 20 years as Scoutmaster by the Fulda Scouts.

Susan Gantriis and Michael Ommen announce their engagement. The couple plans a June 17th wedding in Willmar, MN.

Theo and Paula Hahn are the parents of a boy, Colin born March 19th. Grandparents are Ella Hahn and Raymond and Twyla Geodtke.

Dan and Sherry Koster ate pleased to announce the birth of a daughter, Jessica born March 28th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Larry Koster and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kuehl.

Funeral service for Johanna Lee, who passed away at the age of 77 years old, were held on March 4, 1989.

Citizens of Tomorrow include Laura and Hilary Meier; Nathan and Mitchell Gresham; and Heather and Kenneth Harris.

The Fulda City Council has appointed Jan Wehking to replace the vacant seat of Tim Strenge. In other Council news; A new Amoco Subway Convenience Store is proposed for Fulda Highway 59. The location will be between the Corral Supper Club and Fulda Electric. A request has been made to annex the property to provide city water and sewer.

Paul Kirchner and Bill Krejchi opened a new business, Global Technologies, inc. of Watertown, SD on March 31st.

Gen Stewart helps students in the sixth grade learn the art of ceramics. Gen owns her own kiln and has given lessons out of her home for years.

Behr Enterprises won an award for excellence in construction by Lester Building Systems.

Fulda Community Players will present Oklahoma this weekend.

The Fulda community lost a land mark this week as the Licht family home located on Fourth and Ireland was raised. After the Licht family the building was used as a clinic and then rented to a local family for a time. It was recently purchased by Ron Kellen.

Mayor John Maertens spent time with students in the third grade this week hearing their concerns for Fulda; the fallen street signs, the graffiti in the park and even why there is no ice rink in town.

Featured in Fulda High School Senior Profiles this week are Tabitha Johlfs, Lukasz Kogut, Mike Landgren, Cindi Magnus, and Gina Voss.

Preschool students enjoyed their time at Antonios for their annual Easter outing where they watched owner Shirlene demonstrate how to make a pizza.

Michael Johnson and Lynn Lenards announce their engagement. An August wedding is planned.

Joan Weidert and Todd Miller announce their engagement. A July wedding is planned.

Lydia Van Dyke passed away on March 31st at the age of 65 years 9 months and 8 days.

Todd DeFreeff passed away unexpectedly at his home at the age of 35 years old on March 30th.

Jim Steiner is honored as Resident of the Month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.
