Thursday, August 11, 1966

Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Behr announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Delores, to Eugene Pelzel. No wedding date has been set.

On Tuesday evening friends and neighbors gathered at the farm of Donald Leinen to clean his bean fields.  Mr. Leinen had been a patient in St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for nearly three weeks.

Elaine Magnus and Wm. Sandefur were married in Colorado on July 18th at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Colorado Springs.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy McLeod announce the engagement of their daughter, Judith to Arthur Buloch Jr. a September wedding is planned.

We are saddened to learn of the sudden death of Karole, young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Petrick. Karole ran into the highway in front of her home and was struck by a passing truck which was unable to stop quickly enough. Karole is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Malenke.

Baskets of fall flowers with lighted candelabra provided the setting at First Lutheran Church in Dundee for the wedding of Pamela Olson and Joseph Fadlovich on August 6th.

A large crowd attended the farewell held for Father Thomas Duane on Sunday evening at St. Gabriel’s Church Hall.

Funeral services were held on August 8th for Mrs. Geo. Kruse, 62, at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Windom.

Carol Gerber and Clifford Pals were united in marriage at the Baptist Church in Cody, Wyoming on July 9th.

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Grothe are the parents of a son born August 4th. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. C. H. McIntire and Mr. and Mrs. Dillon Grothe.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Burdick are the parents of a son born August 7th.

A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Rehnelt on August 7th named Wayne. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Emil Hoffman and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rehnelt.

Fulda City Council hears from Randy Larsen on problems with the current ambulance over-heating.

Fulda Independent Coop sells petroleum division to Nobles County Coop Oil.

Public Health Nurses offer care to the community for one hundred years including Early Periodic Screening for children; Home Health Care; Community Nursing; Health Education; Disease Prevention and Control; Emergency Medical Services; WIC Women, Infants and Children; and Environmental Health.

Fulda Area Jaycees received a grant for the construction of five picnic tables, fire rings and gravel at Seven Mile Lake County Park.

The Department of Natural Resources announced in a letter to Charlie Hopkins that Fulda’s grant application for a fishing pier has been approved.

St. Gabriel’s Church was the setting for the wedding of Margaret Crowley and Gary Ettel on June 14th with Father John Traufler officiating.

Lisa Lenards and David Lutz were married June 21st in Fulda with Rev. Bernhard Lutz officiating.

Sandy and Barry Holinka wish to announce the arrival of Karli on July 30th. Grandparents include Lloyd and Shirley Dierks and chuck and Trudy Holinka.

Lewis Duncan passed away on July 28th at the age of 74 years old.

Pastor Verner Grandquist passed away on July 31st at the age of 82 years old.

Robert Schwab suffered a heart attack and passed away unexpectedly on July 28th at the age of 56 years old.

John and Pat Uittenbogaard take trip of a lifetime…they attended the Olympic Centennial Games in Atlanta July 26 – 27.

Fulda City Council hears from Connie Ireland of Southwest Housing Partnership who reviewed  the housing plans for a home to be located on property now owned by the city. Construction of the home will begin in September and will be available to a family in the range of $80,000.

Tim Biren, second year seminary student, spent the past two months serving an informal internship with Fulda’s St.
Gabriel and Iona’s St. Columba parishes.

Seventh annual Ethnic Day is a success in Murray County.

Fulda Police Department will be hosting a Block Party on Tuesday evening, August 20th at the Fulda City Park. The purpose of the party is to help promote neighborhood watch programs.

Gertrude Durnan is honored as Resident of the Month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

Fritz and Monica Moritz will hold an open house for their 50th wedding anniversary on August 17th.

Ralph Emil Malenke passed away on July 22nd at his home at the age of 73 years old.

Eric and Kelly Miller are the parents of a baby girl, Lauren, born July 25th. Grandparents include Dennis and Kathy Miller, Tex and Linda Johnson and Mike Kerm.
