The junior high golf team for the Coyotes this year consisted of 10 golfers. Six 7th grade girls came out to give the sport a try and saw improvements each week. Members of the 7th grade girls team were Samantha Bultmann, Grace Gerdes, Sierra Goedtke, Jadyn Surma, Izzy Runkle and Gracie Warborg. Ethan Johnson and Massen Timmerman were the boy golfers from the 7th grade. Kelli Renneke and Eli Fisher were the two 8th grade golfers. Practice started on March 25 and consisted of a lot of fundamentals and indoor practice. Jadyn Surma and Samantha Bultmann went to our first junior high meet in Pipestone. The course was real wet so conditions were challenging. This meet allowed the golfers to golf for two hours and then we came home. Jadyn and Samantha both golfed decent for their first match.
A little over two weeks went by before the weather allowed us to have another match this time in Adrian. Again the golfers played for two hours to get a feel for the game. Most of the team members participated that day and each golfer saw improvement in their game and started to feel comfortable on the course.
Our matches at MCC and Tracy both got cancelled due to the wet weather. We made it to Westbrook for our next match and just as we got ready to play, the showers started resulting in no play for that day.
Mountain Lake Area brought a few junior high golfers last week with their varsity and junior varsity. Massen Timmerman won the first place medal for the 7th grade division.
This past Monday, Fulda hosted a 5 team tournament and we had nice weather to play in and the Town and Country Golf Course was in nice shape. Gracie Warborg won the first place medal in the 7th grade division with Sierra Goedtke earning the second place medal. Kelli Renneke won the first place medal in the 8th grade division.
This year we had a 9th grade division also and Jaxson Tiesler won the first place medal shooting a very fine 44.
Congratulations to all of the junior high golfers for enduring challenging weather during the season and working to improve their golf skills!
