Fulda Farmers Markets are back and being held on Friday mornings at the Fulda Depot parking lot! New to the Farmers Market this year is Hometown Plants which is offering a large variety of bedding plants as well as floral hanging baskets and planters.
Miron Carney, Slayton, has offered plants through Hometown Plants for the past three years and is very happy to do so again for the fourth year. “We started four years ago when the variety store closed,” Carney explained. “Hometown Variety offered plants every spring. We felt that the city should not lose another plant seller, so we picked up from there.”
Carney grows a number of the plants. He also creates arrangements for the floral hanging baskets and planters. “I like working with the soil and growing the plants,” he commented. “It is quite rewarding.”
Hometown Plants is located at Slayton Beauty Shop, 2525 Maple Avenue, Slayton, and is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
