Four generations of the Jerry and Cleone Ramerth family will be this year’s 2019 Grand Marshals for the Fulda Wood Duck Festival Parade. The festival will be celebrated Monday, June 10th through Sunday, June 16th, under the theme “Grow With Us”, with the parade on Saturday evening.
This family began with the marriage of Jerry Ramerth and Cleone Thompson (Rushmore, MN) on June 19th, 1956. It has grown to include sixty people – many of whom will be attending this year’s Fulda Wood Duck Festival.
Jerry and Cleone met while attending school in Worthington, MN. After their marriage, the couple lived in Augusta, Georgia while Jerry was stationed in the Army at Fort Gordon. They returned to Fulda and moved to an acreage southeast of town that is still currently Cleone’s home. “We raised our six children, farmed and had livestock” Cleone shared.
Jerry and Cleone began Ramerth Aerial Spraying in 1978. In 1979 the Ramerths’ had a farm sale to concentrate on their aerial spraying business. The aerial spraying business kept the entire family busy in every aspect. Cleone chuckled as she described her jobs, adding that there were many, and that all family members had their responsibilities and did them well.
