Nearly 90,000 “blue water” Navy veterans who served during near Vietnam will now have access to disability benefits which had previously been denied to them.
Nobles County Veterans service Officer Bill “Brock” Brockberg explained that he has “had two reversals from previously denied claims for Navy veterans in Nobles County because of this change in DVA rating policy. I now expect to receive more requests to reopen claims from Blue Water Navy veterans.”
The change is a VA decision in the past to treat sailor’s disability claims differently from those who served on the ground in Vietnam.
