Bicyclist rides in support of Honor Flight

Monday morning, June 24, as the rain subsided, Guy Strandberg left from the MN/IA border on a 420 mile bicycle ride. His first stop was in Chandler about 3 hours into his ride.

Sixty-three year old Strandberg is making the trip in support for the Veteran’s Honor Flight of ND/MN.  Strandberg is a veteran himself.   He was a US Navy nuclear power trained Machinist Mate 1st class.  He made 6 patrols on a nuclear-powered ballistic submarine from 1975-1981.

While Strandberg’s father served the Air Force for 20 years, his father-in-law was a WW II veteran, and was able to go on the Honor Flight just last May at the age of 92.

On this bicycle ride, Strandberg’s wife, Marvel is driving a vehicle which holds a spare bicycle, snacks and water for Strandberg,  They live in Strathcona, MN, which is about 40 miles from the Canada border.
