The bucket list has included a trip to Alaska which was fulfilled in the last several weeks. It included planes, ships, trains, buses, boats and cars. There was an average of two miles of walking each day. We saw the whales, bears, moose, porpoises, otters and a lot of other animals. The scenery included the mountains, rivers, glaciers, forests and most all of the famous gold rush towns. I loved the history of accomplishments, hardships and dreams that made up the gold rush. The near extinction of local Indian cultures and their revival was typical of the rest of our country
Riding along beside the Yukon River in Canada and learning the fate of many of the Stampeders who sought their fortune in gold makes it difficult to imagine the perils they faced. Thousands made one of the routes available to them, a few hundred actually found gold. Many perished or went back home to admit failure and others found a different way to earn a living. One man, Frederick Trump, grandfather of President Donald Trump, made his fortune operating a hotel and bordello in the Carcross area in 1898. He returned to Germany in 1901 and emigrated to the USA right away. The rest you know.
I was hopping the grass wouldn’t grow too much but I was wrong.

My Old Aunt Says
I think senility is going to be a fairly smooth transition for me

A lady was taking her first golf lesson. She asked the instructor, “Is the word spelled p-u-t or p-u-t-t?”
“P-u-t-t is correct,” he replied. “P-u-t means to place something where you want it. P-u-t-t means, merely a vain attempt to do the same thing.”
Have a good week!
