Murray County is home to one of the best small town free fairs in Southern Minnesota. The Murray County Fair Board comprised of Stan Larson, Dave Herrig, Kim Konkol, Ron Robbins, Bill Post, Jan Kluis, Steve Salentiny, Steve Magnus, Mike Kirchner, Margie Anderson, Ron Holinka, Scott Kleve, Troy Wehking, Chris Opdahl, Jeff Boerboom, Dean Ackerman along with commissioners Lori Gunnink and Dennis Welgraven work hard all year to prepare the fair.
Attendees don’t have to look far for something to do whether it’s wandering around the fair grounds visiting with vendors, checking out the livestock and 4-H exhibits, open class competitors to entertainment, there’s nothing like the Murray County Fair.
The fair actually kicks off on Monday, August 12th for the 4-H members. Judging of all the general exhibits will take place at the 4-H building and Heritage Hall from 2:00-7:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, August 13th the horse arena will busy all day as 4-H members compete in a variety of events including showmanship, English performance, western performance, games, and trail.
That evening get your walking/running shoes on and join the 5K Fun Run/Walk. Registration for the event takes place at 5:30 p.m. in front of the courthouse. The walk/run is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
The pork and malt stand will open at 5:30 p.m. that evening for all to enjoy their delicious treats.
