Fulda Businessman, Gene Winter, passes away

obit - winter featureGene Winter, a long-time businessman in Fulda, passed away on Sunday, August 21st, at Worthington Sanford Medical Center.

Winter worked as a plumber for more than 40 years.  He was a fire fighter with the Fulda Fire Department from 1972 until 2007.

He was also a member of Fulda American Legion Post 318, the Southwest Minnesota Opportunity Council board and the Murray County Zoning Board.

Gene is survived by his wife Linda Winter of Fulda, MN; children, Allison Winter of Fulda, MN, Gretchen (Chad) Scott of Sioux Falls, SD and Mitch (Jenny) Winter of Fulda, MN; 7 grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann (Harlan) Boom of Fulda, MN; brothers, Bob Winter of St. Paul, MN, Richard (Wanda) Winter of Marshall, MN, Ted (Marge) Winter of Fulda, MN and Lloyd (Mary) Winter of Fulda, MN.

Funeral Services are at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting celebrating. The organist is Dana Hogan. The song leader is Ken Salentiny. The pallbearers are Scott Knorr, Ray Winter, Tyson Meyeraan, Chris Ahlers, Anthony Zins and Jeff Beckman. Interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery Fulda, MN. Military honors provided by the Fulda American Legion Post 318 and VFW Post 9017.
