Coyotes win 3-2 over Springfield, drop 2-3 decision to Adrian

In a pair of intensely-competitive high school volleyball matches, the Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda varsity squad played 10 games over a three-day span last week, winning a 3-2 decision over Springfield in non-conference action at Fulda Tuesday evening (September 10) before being edged in five sets (2-3) by Adrian in a Red Rock Conference match at Okabena Thursday, September 12.

The Coyotes needed a strong rally to claim victory over the Springfield Tigers, who won Games 2 and 3 — after an opening nine-point win by HL-O / F.  Game scores (Coyotes listed first) were 25-16, 24-26, 22-25, 25-21, 15-7.

Hailey Liepold had her share of electric moments at the net and finished the match with 26 kills, spiking effectively from various angles. Meakin Bang (13) and Maddie Ruesch (9) combined to put down 22 more kills as the three tall and talented front-row hitters continually took good sets from Elly Bang, who had a total of 52 assists in the match.
