MCC / Fulda finishes sixth among 11 teams

Because of the extreme heat and humidity last Tuesday, September 17, both varsity races were shortened from 5,000 meters to 4,000 at the 11-team Lac qui Parle Valley / Dawson-Boyd Invitational high school cross country meet.

Competing on the relatively-flat Madison Country Club course, Murray County Central / Fulda’s varsity boys finished sixth as a team with 149 points (16-19-31-39-44), ahead of Ortonville (169) and Yellow Medicine East (192), as well as incomplete squads from Milbank (South Dakota), Lakeview and Southwest Minnesota Christian / Edgerton.

Host LQPV / D-B, Minnesota’s second-ranked Class A boys’ team, dominated the top individual places (five of the first 13) and won the team title in convincing fashion with a mere 30 points (1-2-4-10-13). Redwood Valley (3-6-20-23-25) was second with 77 points, followed by Pipestone Area (87), Canby / Minneota (107) and Montevideo (131).
