Livestock Auction concludes 4-H events at the 2016 Murray County Fair

Slayton, MN- Murray County and other area businesses and individuals were generous in their support of the 105 4-H members in the 52nd annual 4-H Livestock Ribbon Auction.  The auction was held Saturday, August 20, the last day of the 106th Murray County Fair.

Average premium for the 30 beef ribbons sold was $923.  The 14 hogs brought an average premium of $486.  Average for the 19 sheep ribbons was $539.  Fifteen dairy animals brought an average of $350.  Eighteen horses brought an average of $429.  Eight goats averaged $637. Total premium for the sale was $64,238.

The Murray County Agricultural Society, Murray County Bankers Association, and Murray County 4-H Clubs, Inc. have sponsored the sale over its 52 years of existence.  Chairman this year was Stan Larson with Dave Bosacker and Jess Donkersloot serving as auctioneers.  Sharon Staples and First National Bank staff served as clerks.
