Warrior eighth-grader Lily Daniels won a close race to the finish over Pipestone’s Raegen Tibbs in the 1,600-meter plus girls’ junior high race. Daniels clocked a winning time of 7:14, while Tibbs was a close second (7:15), well ahead of the third-place time of 7:37.
MCC / F seventh-grader Courtney Gengler ran the course in eight minutes flat (8:00) and finished in ninth-place overall (sixth in the team scoring), followed by eighth-graders Lindsey Hause (14th, 7, 8:16) and Jayda Hellewell (22, 10, 9:11), seventh-grader Sophia Nelson (23, 11, 9:12) and eighth-grader Molly Clarke (24, 12, 9:13).
The Warriors were second in the junior high team standings with 35 points (1-6-7-10-11), behind Worthington’s winning total of 22 (2-3-4-5-8). All the others were incomplete.
Sophomores Chelby Keesteloot (10th, 26:42) and Meline Dernoncourt (16th, 28:09) each ran for the Warriors in the 5,000-meter JV girls’ race, running the same 3.1-mile course as the varsity. There were 27 total finishers in the girls’ junior varsity event, with times ranging from 24:46 to 32:14.
The Warriors are running at Olivia on Thursday (October 3) and will be at Adrian next Tuesday, October 8.
