Fourth-seeded HL-O/Fulda Coyotes host fifth-seeded WWG Chargers Friday, October 25

Having compiled an overall match record of 15-13 this fall, the Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda varsity volleyball team  — in its first year as a paired high school program — begins post-season tournament action Friday evening (October 25), hosting Westbrook-Walnut Grove at Fulda with the first serve scheduled for 7 p.m.

Known as the Coyotes, HL-O / Fulda finished a fine regular season by earning a tie — with Red Rock Central (Sanborn-Lamberton-Storden-Jeffers) — for second place in the 10-team Red Rock Conference. Both the Falcons and the Coyotes notched 7-2 records in conference action and were seeded third and fourth, respectively, in the upcoming Section 3A South Tournament.

Adrian won the 2019 conference championship with a perfect 9-0 conference record. The Dragons, 23-2 overall, are the defending south sub-section champions and earned this year’s top seed.

Mountain Lake Area / Comfrey and Murray County Central tied for fourth in the final conference standings with 5-4 league records, followed by W-WG and Southwest Minnesota Christian (both 4-5), Hills-Beaver Creek (3-6), Ellsworth (1-8) and Edgerton (0-9).

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, which plays in the Camden Conference, is seeded second in Section 3A South. The Panthers are 18-10 overall this winter and are coached by Rick Haberman, who coached at both Fulda and HL-O in the past.

RRC (17-7 overall) is the third seed, followed by HLOF (15-13), W-WG (13-14), MCC (8-15), SWMC (9-15), H-BC (12-14), Ellsworth (4-13) and Edgerton (3-23).
