Fulda Area Community Club Board Members are in search of additional members and fresh, new ideas. They are looking forward to their Thursday, November 14th, membership drive event and are sharing with the public about their experiences of being a part of the organization.
Board member, Ann Witzel, has lived in Fulda since 1984 “I moved here when Jen Tiesler was 7!!! Yikes!” Witzel jokingly stated. “Jim & I have 5 children- Matt, Elizabeth, Andy, Chris & Margaret. We operate Witzel Bus Service and Witzel Pronto Auto Parts & Service,” she continued.
Witzel became more involved in the Community Club in 2018. “Yep, I was one of those members who never attended a meeting and sometimes brought my pies for Wood Duck,” Witzel volunteered.
She is now a member of the Wood Duck Festival Committee, Parade of Lights Committee, and the Corned Beef, Cabbage and Comdy Committee.
Witzel has served as a Fulda Area Community Club (FACC) board member since January of 2019.
“The decision to join FACC was easy. Fulda has so much to offer! I felt we all needed to come together & promote Fulda as a wonderful place to live and raise a family. Our community has a sense of pride in our town and our school district,” Witzel stated. “The Fulda schools have a great reputation for sending students to secondary education very well prepared.”
Witzel’s favorite FACC event (with a heart-felt apology to her son Andy who was one of the comedians for the Corned Beef and Cabbage and Comedy event in March of 2019) is still the Parade of Lights. “-25 degrees or no snow-I LOVE PARADE OF LIGHTS!” Witzel exclaimed. “Every year, we have added fun family events, and I thank Tina Slaathaug, and the initial group, for starting this event. BUT, rapidly gaining is Corned Beef, Cabbage & Comedy. Oh, and Sunday in the Park during Wood Duck Festival. I guess it is like having kids, I love them all for different reasons.”
“Many hands make light work” is a quote that Witzel firmly believes in. “It is true that every small detail that someone takes on makes a big difference. Volunteer for something that interests you and find your niche. Our group is very dedicated and we have a lot of fun! Yep, sometimes it means work, but seeing the outcome is very worth it. There is room for everyone and their ideas in the Fulda Area Community Club,” Witzel commented.
During the last election, Witzel became a member of the Fulda City Council, and with that, acquired placement on the Fulda Economic Development Association.
“I have seen a recent renewal of energy & excitement in Fulda, and about Fulda,” Witzel affirmed. “I believe the FACC helps promote & impact that.”
The FACC Membership Drive Event will take place on Thursday, November 14th, beginning at 5:30 p.m. YOU are invited to attend! It will be held at the Fulda Community/Legion Hall. A free burger meal will be served at 6 p.m.
