Jerry Johnson has been a member of the Fulda Area Community Club since January of 1973. He purchased the Fulda Free Press in August of 1972 and knew that it was of great importance to continue to provide opportunities of growth to the city. “Joining community club was a part of being businessman. It was an opportunity to work cooperatively with other people within the city,” Johnson stated.
Johnson has lived in Fulda for 73 years. He and his wife, Louise, are the parents of two sons: Randy and Kirk.
He has served as a FACC board member for thirty years of the 46 that he has been a member. He has served on a large variety of committees during that time.
Johnson’s favorite FACC event is the Fulda Wood Duck Festival. “It is an annual event that brings past and present community members together to visit with one another and to renew or build relationships. The Wood Duck Festival is a celebration that is looked forward to by many people just for the fun and fellowship that it provides,” Johnson commented.
He stated that the community club, its committees and activities, impact the city of Fulda, and surrounding area, by providing opportunities for interaction for residents and the continued growth of the community. “There are several events throughout the year that the Fulda Area Community Club holds. We would welcome more people to be a part of helping with those events,” Johnson stated.
“Having a large number of people involved in FACC provides for the committees to do the work that is needed, and aids in quicker and more efficient completion of the labor. More numbers also allows people to get to know each other,” Johnson said.
