With junior guards Jaeden Strandberg and Paul Salentiny providing plenty of hustle and scoring punch, the Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda B-Squad boys basketball team rolled to an impressive 66-41 victory over Madelia in a fast-paced contest at Okabena last Tuesday evening, December 3.
Strandberg attacked the basket with authority and drew several fouls. He made six-of-seven free throws and finished with a team-leading 17 points. Salentiny netted four three-pointers in the game and finished with 14 points for the Coyotes, who led 44-18 at halftime.
A total of 10 players scored in the game for the Coyotes, who ran the floor well and put up points in a variety of ways.
Sophomores Logan Erdmann (eight), Tyson Cotter (seven) and Parker Murphy (five) combined for 20 HLOF points, while junior Gage Freking (four), freshman Rylan Klein (four), junior Dylan Freking (three), sophomore Evan Madsen (two) and sophomore Preston Christoffers (two) also scored.
Dylan Freking sank three-of-four free throws as the Coyotes were a very good nine-of-11 (81.8 percent) at the line.
HLOF connected on nine three-pointers in the game, spread among five players as Salentiny (four), Erdmann (two), Murphy (one), Strandberg (one) and Cotter (one) all made shots from behind the three-point line. Madelia did not make any three-point shots.
