Fulda School Board holds Truth in Taxation meeting – raises levy by 4 percent

Fulda School Board met on Monday evening, December 9th, for the annual Truth in Taxation meeting.

Following a very lengthy discussion regarding the levy increase,  the board voted for  a 4 percent increase which is equal to $43,482.96.

Although the State of Minnesota had given approval for districts to increase their levy’s by 9 percent ($97,768.00 for Fulda), the Fulda School Board chose to not raise the levy by that percentage. During the discussion, administration and board members were very concerned about showing district residents that they are trying to be responsible in their decision making regarding the increase, while at the same time providing sufficient funds for the educational needs.

The cost of education per pupil unit is $15,361.78  within the Fulda District for the 2019-2020 school year.

A percentage of the levy increase is due to the fact that the State of Minnesota increased the value of all properties by a total of 5.6 million during 2019.
