Fest leads HL-O/Fulda with 23 points

Truman/Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain claimed a 60-57 victory over the Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Coyotes last Tuesday night (December 17) in a non-conference high school boys’ basketball game in Granada.

The game was close throughout and the lead changed hands only a few times, but the Jaguars of T/ML/G-H-EC were able to make a few more plays down the stretch and stayed undefeated (6-0) with the narrow victory.

HL-O/F actually led for most of the first half and for the majority of the second half. The Coyotes had leads of 10-2, 13-4, 16-8 and 19-13 in the first half before the Jaguars rallied — with the help of a late 14-6 burst — to take a 36-31 halftime lead.

“We started off well and went 5-for-5 from 3-point range to begin the game, scoring 19 points in the first six minutes,” Coyotes head coach Colby Pack said. “But we ended the first half poorly. We started the second half strong by scoring the first eight points and led until about four minutes to play, but we again struggled to finish the half and missed on multiple attempts to tie or take the lead at the end.”
