Scoring 29 points in each half, the Renville County West Jaguars earned a well-balanced 58-48 victory over the Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Coyotes in a non-conference high school girls’ basketball game last Thursday night (January 2) in Renville.
RCW built a 29-17 halftime lead and held off HL-O/F in the final 18 minutes, as the Coyotes won the second half by a 31-29 margin.
“We got off to a very slow start in the first half,” Coyotes head coach Andy Oakland said. “We put some pressure on them defensively in the second half, and that gave us some energy. We pulled to within five points late in the game, but we didn’t have anything left in the tank down the stretch.”
