Sparked by 14 points from senior guard Khloe Gehl, the Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Coyotes claimed a 46-30 victory over the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers in a Red Rock Conference high school girls’ basketball game last Tuesday night (January 28) in Okabena.
Tuesday’s win was the second of the season for HL-O/F over W-WG, as the Coyotes also defeated the Chargers 55-39 at Westbrook on December 3. HL-O/F improved to 3-15 overall and 3-8 in the conference with the 16-point victory.
“We talked about getting out to a lead early and continuing to apply pressure, and I thought we did that pretty well,” Coyotes head coach Andy Oakland said. “We built a nice lead in the first half, and although we had some moments where we lapsed, we were able to flip the switch back to where we needed it to be to end the game strong.”
