After trailing for the majority of the first half, the Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Coyotes claimed a 32-29 halftime lead and held off the Red Rock Central Falcons in the second half to capture an exciting 66-63 victory in a Red Rock Conference high school boys’ basketball game last Tuesday night (February 11) at Fulda.
RRC led for most of the first half and had an 18-9 lead at one point, but HL-O/F finished strong and went into the locker room with a three-point edge — which is it how it ended up after both teams scored 34 points in the second half.
“We battled through, despite not playing our best game,” Coyotes head coach Colby Pack said. “RRC played well. We made some big plays down the stretch, as the final statistics were very similar in most categories.”
The Coyotes had a couple of seven-point leads (39-32 and 41-34) early in the second half, but could never break away from the Falcons.
