Interstate Power is ranked First in the nation in Safety for 1959 by the National Safety Council.

A deal has been completed where Frank Freetly sold his Implement Business to Norbert (Curly) Sieverding of rural Fulda, a former employee of Mr. Freetly. Possession was given on March 1st. Mr. Freetly has been in business for twenty-seven years.

Students in Irene Touhey’s class and Mrs. Getzel’s class visited the Telephone Office this week where they learned all about the switchboard. Mrs. Engen, the chief operator, was in charge of answering questions and explaining the duties of the operators.

A free Mantoux test for tuberculosis will be given in the Fulda schools on Tuesday, march 15, 1960. Parents, please return your students permission cards to the school.

National 4-H week to be held March 5-12, 1960.

Elaine Rueter and Eldon Gehl were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church at Ocheydan, Iowa on Sunday March 6th.

Friends will be sorry to hear that Mrs. W. G. (Katherine) Akkerman passed away Monday evening, March 7th in Vallejo, California. Mrs. Akkerman was the daughter of Mrs. Fritz Behr.

Chris Behr retires from Interstate Power Company.

Operation Kid Print, fingerprinting of local children, came to Fulda on Thursday, sponsored by the Fulda Police Department.

Citizens of Tomorrow include Alexa Ahlers, Travis Kramer, and Lucas Isder.

Fulda City Council sets spring clean up date  for April 18th.

Several fires reported in Murray County – burning ban once again in effect. Weekend fires were as follows: Friday afternoon the Lake Wilson Fire Department was called to a ditch fire six miles north of town; Saturday the Chandler Fire Department was called to a pasture fire that was out of control, Lake Wilson was called for mutual add; Sunday the Currie Fire Department was summoned to a grass fire heading towards a house at the Krusemark farm, the Slayton Fire Department assisted; Another fire was reported at the Phil Sweetman residence where round bales of hay were ablaze, with the Currie already out, the Dovray and Westbrook departments responded, upon their arrival the fire had spread and a fuel tank explosion was involved, Fulda and Avoca were called to assist.

School to Work program presented to local businesses by the Fulda High School BPA, FLA and FFA members. Over 30 area business men and women were in attendance.

Matilda the Magical Bunny, and her handler Magician Jeffery Salveson, visited the Fulda Elementary School this week.

Resident of the Month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home is Mike Torkelson.

Connie and Troy Wieneke are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Tori Marie, born March 6th. Grandparents are AnnaMae Fuerstenberg, and Glen and Jackie Wieneke.

Edna Johnson passed away on March 1, 2000 at the age of 88 years old.

Richard J. Kunzweiler died at his home in Rochester. Funeral services are pending.
