Federated Rural Electric will work in the Heron Lake substation Sunday, September 18, starting at 8 a.m. Former Alliant customers in Heron Lake, Okabena, Kinbrae and Dundee will be affected.
Federated’s Operations Manager Joe Marathaler explained what will occur. “Federated crews found a bad voltage regulator in the substation,” he explained. “It is not working properly so it cannot be bypassed to change it out. Three Federated linemen need to shut off power to remove this faulty regulator and install a new one. If all goes well, the outage should last less than 15 minutes.”
