Edeth Jenkins was born on October 2, 1916, to Edward and Kathryn Ferdinandt Jenkins, Worthington, MN.
Jenkins siblings included Gladys (Ray) Shade, Worthington, Belda (Ed) Moret, St. Paul, Kenneth (Gloria), Worthington, Lee, (Elaine) Bigelow, (all deceased) and Floretta (Fredi) Bowman, who resides in Florida.
Jenkins celebrated her graduation from Worthington High School as valedictorian of her class. After working in the Worthington area for a time, Jenkins attended Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL., and secured a degree in Christian Education. She entered Wheaton College in the fall of 1938 knowing that she wanted to focus on teaching others about Jesus Christ. “I wanted to tell children and youth about Christ. In those days, women were the ones who trained the children and youth about Christian living,” Jenkins stated. She graduated from Wheaton College five years after beginning her studies. “I worked my way through college, so it took the five years to gain my degree,” she shared.
