Fulda, MN – Book Your Winter Getaway, the annual winter reading program sponsored by the Plum Creek Library System and its member libraries, will begin January 1, and run through March 31, 2017. The program, open to ages 16 and beyond, is held every year during the winter months, and rewards readers for doing what they love to: read.
Participation is easy: Simply sign up at your local library. Your Library will give you a punch card or reading log to record the number of books read. Then get set to read at least 12 books during the 3-month long program. Readers are encouraged to read as many titles as they choose, however, in order for their punch card or reading log to be counted toward the library’s chance at the Champion Readers traveling trophy and be considered as “completing the program”, a minimum of 12 books read is required. Titles may be in any format including audio books and e-books.
Most Plum Creek Library System libraries offer patrons a prize for completing the Winter Reading Program challenge and various incentives are available.
Last year at 25 libraries in the nine-county library system, an outstanding total of 20,917 books were read. Of the participants, 970 were women and 152 men, amounting to a total of 1,122 readers. Nearly 300 of those Winter Reading Program participants were new to the program and every year libraries encourage library patrons who have not been a part of the program to join in the fun.
So make plans to stop at your library today, register for the Winter Reading Program, and get set to Book You Winter Getaway in January.
