Thursday, Dec. 22, 1966

Capt. Richard R. Lund was awarded the Air Force Silver Star. Capt. Lund was piloting his HU-16 amphibian aircraft over the Gulf of Tonkin when a call was received telling him that two Navy pilots had ejected from their damaged aircraft. Captain Lund proceeded to the area to rescue the downed airmen.

The Fulda Lions Club has set the date of Sunday, February 5th for its Annual Fishing Derby.

NOTICE: All Fulda business places will close at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 24th, Christmas Eve.

Former Fulda resident, Mrs. Ed Dahl passes away in Redding, California.

The elementary grades of Saint Gabriel School presented their Christmas program on Tuesday.

Through the hard efforts of many of the Fulda High School students under the direction of Rev. Edward Scheuring, a section of ice was cleared and prepared for skating on Fulda’s lake.

Mark Vortherms, recently received a certification of appreciation from the South Dakota Human Services Center in Yankton. He was recognized for his outstanding work in designing, drawing and coloring beautiful pictures. His artwork will be given to patients receiving food trays on Christmas Day.

The Fulda High School Band has been presented with a Proclamation from Governor Rudy Perpich officially naming them as representatives of the State of Minnesota at the Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix, Arizona.

Sherwin Linton records new single record which has been released across the country on the Breaker Label. “Santa Got A DWI” was written early one morning at the home of Bob and Evie Barns, where Linton and his band resided while performing in Fulda.

Murphy’s Landing presents Living Nativity this weekend.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn this month are Alvina Weinzetl, Gustav Wagner, Margaret Fitzgerald, and Harry Behr.

Mabel Dalin passed away on December 14th at the age of 85 years old after a lengthy illness.
