In memory of Doris Christensen

Doris “Dori” Cecilia Christensen was born on October 13, 1942 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Arthur and Nelly Rush Paul.  She grew up in St. Paul and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in St. Paul.  On August 5, 1961 she and Bob Skillings were married in St. Paul. Following their marriage they made their home in St. Paul.  They later divorced.  On September 21, 1975 she and Larry Christensen were married following their marriage they made their home in the Slayton area until 1982 when they moved to Avoca, MN.  In 1993 they divorced but remained good friends.  Dori worked at several place in the Slayton area over the years. Dori passed away at her home on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the age of 74.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, shooting pool, reading, word search puzzles, playing cribbage and her many dogs.

Survivors include her three children, Charlotte Skillings of Minneapolis, MN, Dale Skillings and Cheryl Cooper Nelson of Riverview, FL, and William Skillings and Jacqueline Blackman of Currie, MN; one step daughter, Kathy Vorman of Avoca, MN; five grandchildren, Misty Skillings and Josh Mulso of Avoca, MN, Brittani Skillings and Ramon Luna of Slayton, MN, Marcie and Ryan Ash of Dundee, MN, Tanisha and Alexander Ritti of Plainfield, IL, and Marc Clausen of Minneapolis, MN; 12 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Nan and Den St. George of Oakdale, MN, Nancy Rowan of Moose Lake, MN, and Thomas and Karleen Paul of Calumet, MN.  She is preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Arthur Paul Skillings, infant great granddaughter, Harmonie Einck, infant sister, Tess Paul, two brothers, Danny and Jim Paul and one sister, Mazie Zackerson and her husband, Bruce.

Memorial Services were held at Faith Lutheran Church in Avoca, MN on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dawn Quame officiating.  The organist was Sherri Isder. The honorary pallbearers were Scott Burger, Charlie Ackerman, LJ Kuntz, Mike Bohmer Jr., Bobby Bohmer, Karen Rogers, Kathy Wahl, Al Ennenga, Joan and Bill Wilson and her great grandchildren.
