Fulda High School seniors Bailey Onken and Katy Hakeneis chose an FCCLA project listed in the category of Focus on Children as one of their two projects for the 2016-2017 school year. For the project, they are making blankets for Project Linus with the fourth grade class from Fulda Elementary School.
After choosing their project category and the organization to work with, Hakeneis and Onken worked with the FCCLA Holiday Cookie Walk to raise funds for this project. With the monies collected, they were able to purchase enough material to make twelve fleece tie blankets.
“The purpose of the Focus on Children Project Linus project is to introduce the fourth grade students to volunteering and to teach them about the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America cocurricular organization,” Onken explained.
