In memory of Leland Hardekopf

1936-LELAND HARDEKOPF-2017

Leland “Lee” Hardekopf, the son of William and Dora (Behr) Hardekopf, was born on June 8, 1936 in Fulda, MN. He grew up on the family farm and attended Seward Township Country School and the Fulda High School. Lee was united in marriage to Laurelene Baumhoefner on July 22, 1958 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda. After their marriage they lived and farmed in the Fulda and Wilmont areas until moving into Fulda in February of 1981. Over the years after farming he worked at Slayton/VIP Floral in Slayton and the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. In July 2011 they moved out of Fulda and in September of 2011 Lee became a resident of the Golden Living Center in Slayton, MN. Lee passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Slayton Golden Living Center at the age of 80. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, playing cards and his family.

Survivors include his wife, Laurelene Hardekopf of Windom, MN; 5 children, Julaine (Michael) Arens of Fulda, MN, Michael (Marlene) Hardekopf of Bloomington, MN, Robert (Tonetta) Hardekopf of Big Lake, MN, William (Tracy) Hardekopf of Barrington, NH and Sheri Hardekopf of Minneapolis, MN; 8 grandchildren, Marisa (Matthew) Reed, Michele (Josh) Rozell, Jared (Morgan) Arens, Tabitha (Rick) Johnson, Aaron Hardekopf, Gabrielle Hardekopf, Laura Hardekopf and Noah Hardekopf; 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler Rozell, Elianna Reed and Rhett Arens; sister, Elnora Dierks of Fulda, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Helen Ruesch and brothers, Alvin, Henry and Harry Hardekopf.

Funeral service will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 20, 2017 with Rev. Ted Kunze and Rev. Karla Kirkeby officiating.  The organist is Norma Dittman. The pallbearers are his grandchildren. Interment at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery rural Fulda, MN at a later date.
