Fulda Raider girls finish regular season 2-1

Thursday night the Raiders Girls’ basketball team traveled to Minneota to take on the Vikings in a nonconference matchup. Tough defense and rebounding kept the Raiders in the game for much of the first half but a late run by the home team gave them a 13-point lead going into the half. The lead grew to twenty early in the second half but the Raiders kept working hard. They put together a late run but it wasn’t enough to get them within striking range. The game ended with a final score of 82 – 64. Fulda did a great job of keeping Sophomore Lydia Sussner, one of the top players in the section, in check but she was able to collect 11 points and with that she scored her 1000th point. The Raiders were led by Camryn Baumhoefner who finished with a double-double, 19 points and 16 rebounds. Randi Tiesler added 15 points and Emily Schroer contributed 11 points and six rebounds for the visitors.

Friday night the Raiders went on the road to MLA for their last regular season game away from home. Although it wasn’t pretty on for either team, the Raiders gutted it out and came away with a 57 – 49 win. Early in the first half it looked as if Fulda was in control and would run away with the game. But with just under 5 minutes left in the half, Fulda broke down and the Wolverines were able to capitalize finishing the half on a 12 – 4 run. The second half started with a score of 22 – 20. The game went back and forth for the next 15 minutes before the Raiders were able to push to a 5 –point lead with three minutes to go and held on for an eight-point win. Randi Tiesler and Emily Schroer led the team in scoring with 17 and 14 points. Evany Luna contributed with 10 points and eight rebounds.
